Documentary about present-day Itapocu, a Quilombola community located in South Brazil’s countryside. A Quilombola is a hinterland settlement formed by descendants of Afro-Brazilian enslaved persons who escaped. Its centenary tradition, Catumbi, is a syncretic manifestation that includes a procession, dance, music, and other Catholic and Afro-Brazilian customs.
