In a small boat adrift, the characters stop paddling and settle for death. Surrounded by the horizon line, they reminisce about the past. Common Depth transforms the straight horizon into a circular line in a new encounter with the poetry of Limite, 1930’s Brazilian film directed by Mário Peixoto. Composed of digitally manipulated fragments, this experiment distorts the images and soundtrack of Peixoto’s film, following its aesthetic exploration on the limitations of human existence.
